Dr. Richard Bower, PHD
Director, VP-Business Development
Dr. Bower is a developer, owner and operator of renewable energy and sustainable advanced technology companies. For two decades Richard served as a senior executive in the Federal Government with positions as Director General International Affairs, Director General Industrial Innovation and Director CANDU Marketing Secretariat in Industry Canada, Senior Policy Adviser in the Privy Council, Counselor Science & Technology at the Canadian Embassy in Japan, Director, Regional Initiatives in the Department of Regional Economic Expansion and Director in the Planning Branch Treasury Board. Richard also serves as directors in multiple private energy companies in US and Canada, and consulted to AEP Canada, AECL, and Japanese Trading Houses (Itochu, Sumitomo, Mitsui). Dr. Bower is currently President of Linden Power Inc. which develops, invests in and operates solar power projects. Dr. Bower has a Ph.D. in physics from Princeton University.
Dr. Elliot Strashin, MD
Dr. Elliot is the President and CEO of S. Strashin and Sons Limited, a 60-year-old Real Estate Development Corporation, now concentrating on green property development, with their latest project a 380,000 sq. ft. IT and CleanTech Redevelopment aiming for LEED Platinum certification. In 2009 he co-founded Ellsin Environmental Ltd. which built a green, tire-recycling prototype facility in Sault Saint Marie. He is currently a director of dynaCERT Inc., a corporation that has developed an on-demand, computerized electrolysis unit which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption for fossil fuel burning engines. Dr. Strashin is also president and CEO of Strashin Power Corp., which owns and operates solar facility in Toronto. He also has served on the Boards of Directors and as an officer, for public companies in the field of mining exploration. Dr. Strashin graduated from the University of Toronto School of Medicine in 1980 and practiced emergency medicine and family practice for approximately 24 years.
Director, Secretary, Treasurer
Peter D’Uva’s career in the Ontario utility businesses has spanned a period of more than 30 years. Peter began his hydro career in York, Ontario in 1967 as Manager of Customer Services Toronto Hydro. He has served as Senior Vice President, Customer Services at Toronto Hydro Electric System; then as President, Toronto Hydro Street Lighting Inc. Peter began his studies in Accounting and Business Management at Humber College and has augmented his skills subsequently with academic and professional courses. He has a solid history in customer services and has fulfilled his mandates by building highly motivated and effective teams. Implementing strategic planning, creating and enabling processes and procedures led to high ratings of customer satisfaction.
David G. Speck
Mr. Speck has over 30 years of experience in the financial markets. He has held senior executive positions at several companies during his career. Among his career highlights are supporting the development of 4 start-up public companies, including co-ordinating the sales and marketing efforts for each company in order to grow each company on the TSX. He also advised with respect to the reverse take-over of a private mining company, subsequently becoming a director of that company. He has also previously managed 10 branches for Merrill Lynch Canada (where he was responsible for a retail sales force of 120 brokers). Mr. Speck obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science / Economics) from the University of Guelph in 1981 and obtained a Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1994.
Nick Ierfino, BBA, CPA, CA
Director, Chief Financial Officer
Nick is Chartered Professional Accountant with over 40 years of experience in public accounting.
He has held previous positions in a large international public accounting firm specializing in the areas of audit and insolvency and director and VP of Finance for larger International Corporation
Giving back to the community has always been a passion for Nick. He is involved in several not-for-profit organizations.
